The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Punjab claimed on Friday to have thwarted a big terrorist plot in Bahawalpur by arresting two alleged militants of proscribed Baluchistan Republican Army. According to a CTD Punjab spokesman, two alleged terrorists, identified as Dost Muhammad alias Dosu and Ata Ullah of the banned Baluchistan Republican Army, have been arrested by the law enforcers during an intelligence-based operation.

"During interrogation, the (alleged) terrorists revealed that destruction of main gas pipeline in Bahawalpur was their major target and they were being funded by Baluchistan Republican Army Commander Baghi, who is currently in Afghanistan," the spokesman quoting the alleged militants claimed.

The accused confessed that they were also involved in two previous such attacks in Rahim Yar Khan, he further claimed. "Two kilogrammes of explosive material including detonators, time devices and five hand-grenades have been recovered from them," he concluded.
